Ways to Experience Fall in Sanford, NC

If you’re looking to experience some hidden gems in Sanford, NC this fall, look no further. Here are a handful of experiences that would be fun really in any season, but especially when the cooler weather begins to set in and you break out your scarves and flannel.

Find the perfect pumpkin

Gross Farm has been in the Gross family for over five generations and is a source of clean entertainment for the whole family. Though they grow produce year-round, the fall is a particularly exciting time to visit them as they feature activities like a hayride, pumpkin patch and corn maze!

Head over with your family and friends on a crisp, fall afternoon and test your skills on the corn maze, which spans a 10-acre field of corn. One of the largest in the area, this maze has four miles of winding pathways and three different puzzles to solve. For the kids, Farm Scene Investigation (or FSI) adds a fun twist as they seek to find the missing Farmer Joe!

After navigating the corn maze, head over to the pumpkin patch to pick out your perfect pumpkin and, more importantly, take that perfect Instagram picture.

To complete your perfect afternoon at Gross Farm, bundle up and go for a hayride. This is a perfect activity for a chilly evening, and 50-60 people can ride at a time! This family-owned, charming farm is emblematic of Sanford’s culture, and their many activities are suitable for all ages.

Get your golf game on

A staple of Sanford is none other than the Tobacco Road Golf Club. It boasts to be number 50 of the top 100 golf courses in the world. Not only can you enjoy beautiful landscapes as you move throughout the course but genuine Southern hospitality as well from the staff at the clubhouse.

If golf isn’t your thing, it is still more than worth a visit. Check out the golf shop and snack bar or read a book on the sofas by the open fireplace. Their two stone porches and comfortable rocking chairs offer the ideal viewpoint to witness the action on the 1st and 10th tee boxes, as well as the finishing 18th green.

Sanford is also home to two other incredible courses – Quail Ridge Golf Course and Sanford Golf Course. Though golf is a fun time all year round, these classic Sanford experiences are especially suited for the cooler fall temperatures!
